A campaign against bullying through music education.
ABOUT THE PROJECTIn this one of a kind residency program, WindSync uses music and poetry to enhance and develop a school-wide appreciation of Play Different Project’s core: tolerance and friendship. Participating classrooms work with WindSync to write poems which explore the value of individual and cultural differences as well as the creation of peaceful learning environments. The poems are excerpted as lyrics to compose a school anthem which WindSync sets to music. In the final assembly, students, faculty, staff, and parents join together in singing an original song written for and by the students as a symbol of unity through art and diversity.
The program utilizes our trademark, theatrical style of musical storytelling to teach kids how to identify bullying and appropriate, proactive strategies for responding. WindSync works onsite and remotely with each school in various creative classes such as writing, music, and art to encourage student expression and reflection. |
CALL FOR SCHOOLSWindSync seeks elementary schools in Houston, Texas to participate in a pilot program focused on teaching tolerance and appreciation of differences through music education during the 2012-2013 school year. If selected to participate in our Play Different Project, we will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to structure a unique program that complements required school curricula and addresses the needs of specific school communities.
